About John Lucas-Tooth

John Lucas-Tooth was appointed as Chairman of the SpectraLegal Finance Executive Board on 12 July 2017.  John Lucas-Tooth started Telsec Instruments designing, manufacturing and marketing X-ray fluorescent spectrometers and associated equipment. In 1982 he sold this business to Bausch and Lomb but continued to work with them as a consultant.  During this time John chaired Oxford Analytical Instruments (a wholly owned start-up subsidiary of Oxford Instruments).

In 1985 John Lucas-Tooth joined Lazard and eventually became a director of Lazard Investments. One of his main activities with Lazard was as a supervisor of their Japanese mezzanine investment fund.  John Lucas-Tooth still sits on this supervisory board after more than forty years of active involvement.  He also worked for Pearson, Development Capital Group and Renaissance Management.

On retirement from Lazard and until 2012, John Lucas-Tooth joined an old colleague from Oxford, Rupert Loewenstein, as a managing director of the companies that looked after all the business affairs of the Rolling Stones including their contracts and wealth investments.  Since then, he has chaired several companies, including two mutual insurance companies, a Medical devices company and one of the Triplepoint VCTs.
